FACILITIES PLAN / LOGISTIC REQUIREMENTS
Campus and Classroom Facilities

In view of the need to keep down the cost, it is recommended that the school should operate from rented premises and with rented facilities during the formative years. Based on this recommendation, the institution is to rely on other institutions for the use of their classrooms, laboratories and other facilities in order to maximize its resources and capacity during these formative years.

Thus our classrooms, audiovisual centre, ICT lab and library are rented facilities located in the buildings of the Wood Industries Training Center (WITC) at Ejisu-Akyawkrom, near Kumasi. Here on this campus students shall also have access to residential and cafeteria facilities.

Also in the short term CIMS shall procure facilities that are not available at WITC, or that cannot be rented from other institutions. These include laboratory equipment for the biomedical and pharmaceutical sciences, as well as materials and models for training in clinical skills, nursing and midwifery.

In the medium term the school shall acquire its own campus to accommodate its primary academic and administrative facilities. It shall be located in a town near Kumasi, Ghana.  The planned 50-acre site will include buildings, play, fields and forested areas. The buildings will include:

  • 300-Seater Lecture Theatre Complex with audiovisual equipment
  • Laboratories
  • Auditorium
  • Meeting Rooms
  • Faculty and central administrative offices,
  • Library and bookstore

The campus shall be beautified to present a panorama of beautiful and modern buildings interspersed with verdant lawns and tropical flora to provide cool and refreshing environment congenial for academic studies. Campus resources shall also be enriched with recreational facilities, parks sports facilities, as well as a civic area with municipal services such as campus security system and fire security services.

Computerization of the operations of the school will help to achieve the following objectives: -

  • Quicker production of operational statistics
  • Building of reliable database.
  • Production of complete, up-to-date information on the school’s operation,
  • Standardization of administrative procedures

Office furniture and furnishing are estimated to cost US$5000.

Vehicles

Vehicle requirements are assessed based on the projected transportation needs of the central administration and the departments of the school as well as that of the office of the Principal.
